Transparent glass substrates used as front glass in PV panels experience performance losses primarily due to light reflections. In fact, these reflection losses can range from 8-9% on the front surface of the solar module, which is a major challenge. To address this, an Antireflective Coating is deposited on the glass surface. ARCI has developed a new Broad-band Antireflective Coating (BARC) Technology that offers high light transmittance (>95%) along with Omnidirectional property, excellent weather, mechanical, and thermal stability. This is achieved using both organic and aqueous solvent-based compositions. ARCI’s Broad-band AR coating Technology is very cost-effective, industrially scalable, and highly suitable for harsh environments, it has the potential to become a leading technology for manufacturing PV glass.
Key Features
- > 95% transmittance on a single-side PV glass (2–2.5% T gain) in the 380–1100 nm wavelength region.
- High weather stability, withstanding high humidity-freeze, damp heat, and thermal cycling tests as per IEC 61215. It also passes the hydrolytic pressure test (ASTM C225).
- High thermal stability (<10000 C) and mechanical stability (ASTM D3363 and ASTM D3359).
- Long durability and a self-life period for both the coating and the coating sol.
- Cost-effective and easily scalable for industrial application.
