The development of highly dispersible carbon quantum dots for enhancing photovoltaic performance by down-conversion process. ARCI developed cost-effective Carbon Quantum dots by a hydrothermal process

Various concentration of carbon quantum dots was prepared by dispersing in non-polar solvent. And by dip coating method, CQDs were coated on the PV glass and EVA sheet; notably both showed no colour change and loss in transmittance. CQDs modified EVA encapsulated solar cells showed 10% enhancement in power conversion efficiency compared with pristine EVA encapsulated solar cells.

Key Features

  • High dispersive nature in non-polar solvents
  • Suitable for large-scale depositions
  • No significant change was observed in the PV glass transmission after CQDs coating
  • No significant color change was observed on the EVA sheet after CQDs coating
  • CQDs can be incorporated in PV glass as well as EVA sheet
  • Cost-effective and easy to scale up

Potential Applications

  • Solar photovoltaics

अवस्था

  • Solar cells made with CQDs embedded with EVA showed 10% increment in the power conversion efficiency
