Photon detection is a critical component in defense, communication, astronomy, smart sensing, cyber-physical systems, environmental monitoring, and advanced optoelectronics. ARCI has developed a comprehensive program on scalable, cost-effective, and CMOS-compatible photodetector technologies based on:  Quantum dots (Metal Chalcogenides, halide perovskite), photoactive Inorganic chalcogenide, Hybrid organic–inorganic heterojunctions and Flexible film architectures. These innovations span zero-bias devices, broadband UV–Vis–NIR response, nanorod heterojunctions, spectral downshifting quantum-dot engineering, and mixed-dimensional junctions, forming a unified, scalable, solution-processed photodetector technology platform.

  • Demonstrates high responsivity and rapid switching under zero-bias.
  • Process is highly scalable and compatible with flexible substrates for consumer electronics/IoT devices.
  • Currently undergoing fine-tuning for improved responsivity and long-term packaging for TRL enhancement and commercialization.
