Dr. V. Ganapathy

Scientist E | Centre for Solar Energy Materials

Dr. Ganapathy Veerappan has been a Senior Scientist at the Centre for Solar Energy Materials, ARCI, India, since April 2015. He holds a Ph.D. from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea (2012), and pursued postdoctoral research at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, until 2015. His work has earned prestigious accolades, including the DST-INSPIRE Faculty Award and the SERB Research Scientist Award. In 2018, he represented India at the BRICS Young Scientist Forum in Durban, South Africa. With over 18 years of experience, He specializes in the scalable synthesis of inorganic materials and their integration into optoelectronic and energy devices. His research interests encompass semiconductor materials, photovoltaics, conducting inks, and their applications in perovskite solar cells, electrolyzers for green hydrogen production, photodetectors, and redox flow batteries. He has led or contributed to seven sponsored research projects worth over ₹5 crores as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI. His translational research has contributed to technology transfers to industry, notably anti-reflective (AR) coating technology to Borosil Renewables, among others. He has filed five patents, including one internationally granted patent, published six book chapters, and authored 67 international peer-reviewed publications with an average impact factor above 7.0. His work has received over 2,581 citations and holds an h-index of 27. He is a sought-after resource person and invited speaker at national and international conferences and serves as an expert reviewer for several Indian and international research proposals. Additionally, he is a Board of Studies Member at reputed academic institutions in India.
