Dibyendu Chakravarty
Dibyendu Chakravarty is working in International Advanced Research Center for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) as Scientist-F at the Center for Advanced Powder Metallurgy. He has a work experience of 22 years. He did his bachelors and masters from Calcutta University and IT-BHU in 2001 and 2003, respectively in Ceramic Technology. He joined ARCI in 2003 as a scientist. He did his PhD from Materials Engineering department, IISc Bangalore in 2013 under the guidance of Prof Atul Chokshi. After that he received the prestigious Indo US Science and Technology Fellowship for a year in 2014 and went on to work with Prof. P.M.Ajayan at Rice University, USA. Over the years, he has been working on synthesis and consolidation of nanomaterials using novel techniques. His field of research includes spark plasma sintering for consolidation of metals, ceramics, alloys, composites, FGMs etc, production of nanopowders using RF Induction Plasma technique, ceramic cutting tools, biomaterials and graphene based materials for various structural and functional applications. He has been working on the fabrication of tungsten based materials for niche applications and has developed and supplied components to end users on the same. He has a patent and also a technology transfer on this work. His recent interests include rare earth materials extraction using a state-of-the art technology for use in permanent magnets. He has forty-eight publications in peer reviewed international journals with an average impact factor of 4.2 and h-index of 25, total citations of above 1625 and four Indian patents to his credit. He has one on-going PhD student. He has successfully completed six sponsored projects and several job orders. He is a member of several professional scientific societies in India and abroad like ACS, IIM, PMAI, MRSI and has recently been inducted as Associate Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences. He acts as a reviewer for many international materials science journals
