Overview

ARCI has developed an innovative and low-cost technology for the production of in-situ carbon coated Lithium Iron Phosphate (C-LFP) as a cathode material for Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). This technology has also been successfully demonstrated on large scale up to the quantity of (10 Kg/batch) for industrial purposes. Further, the same C-LFP and graphite anode have been used for fabricating high-capacity pouch cells (10 Ah) for LIBs. The electrochemical performance of the fabricated cells demonstrated the initial capacity of 9.27 Ah and retained the capacity retention of 99% at 0.2C-rate after 100 cycles. The fabricated pouch cells can also be used in various battery applications.

Key Features

  • Pouch cells of LFP/Graphite with various capacities have been fabricated for LIBs.
  • The fabricated cells have shown stable performance at various C-rates.
  • Fabrication of different chemistry battery packs are in progress for EV applications.

Potential Applications

  • Automotive transport: Electric 2&4 wheelers, electric cars and drones etc.
  • Consumer electronics: Power tools, mobile applications and electronic gadgets respectively.
